Our theme for the 2024 Arts, Recreation and Worship Conference is RHYTHMS OF WONDER
ARW is a week long experiential opportunity to participate in recreation, worship, community, creativity and the arts. The conference is designed for those who want to deepen their creativity, broaden their leadership skills and experience personal spiritual renewal. In addition to whole group worship and recreation events, participants select from a wide range of unique courses. Our learning together provides space for us to share in community that includes all of God’s voices
The basic schedule for the week is as follows:
- Arrive on Monday and check in to housing (from noon on). Registration from 3-5 pm, gather for dinner at 5 and opening program at 7:15, optional late night activities 9:30 til....
- Tuesday - Friday: Morning gathering from 8:45-10, morning classes from 10:30-12:30, lunch from 12:30 - 1:30, afternoon classes from 2:45-4:45, dinner from 5:30-6:30, evening programming from 7:30- 9, optional late night activities 9:30 til....
- Thursday's schedule differs slightly, with free afternoon and the afternoon classes meeting from 7-9 pm

Are you interested in building your skills specifically to help you lead in large group settings like a camp and conference center or Montreat Youth Conference? Do you want to gain skills to lead Intergenerational retreats? We have an opportunity for you to take some foundational courses in these areas and when completed, you can share that you have a foundation in Recreation Leadership from the Arts, Recreation and Worship Conference. Want more details?

Rev Grier Booker Richards
Worship Leader For over 20 years, Grier has served the PC(USA) through her leadership in national gatherings such as Montreat Youth Conferences, the Presbyterian Youth Triennium, the College Conferences at Montreat, the Music and Worship Conferences at Montreat, Faith in 3D and ARW. Grier currently serves as the Associate Pastor for Discipleship and Adult Faith Formation at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, NC, while also savoring her role as "Mom" to her 13 year-old son, Olsen. When she is not at church or at the soccer field, you can find Grier hiking, running, reading or at the climbing gym. |
Marcus Hong Music Leader
Marcus is a child of God and a cultivator of worship who has served in congregations, new worshipping communities, college chapels, and youth groups for 20 years. He is the director of field education, chapel worship coordinator, and assistant professor of practical theology at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He directs the seminary's Sun-Walking Fellowship, an initiative that seeks to encourage intergenerational art-making in congregations. Originally from Salt Lake City, UT, Marcus is a lover of long hikes, good movies, fantasy literature, poetry, and songwriting. He and his wife Sarah have their hands blessedly full raising two precocious children. Marissa Galvan-Valle Music Leader Marissa Galván-Valle works as the Senior editor for Spanish Language Resources for Presbyterian Publishing Congregation. She is also the pastor at Beechmont Presbyterian Church, an intercultural congregation in Louisville, KY. She is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico and she loves to write, sing, watch movies, preach, play rhythm instruments and laugh. She lives in Louisville with her mom, Blanca. |
