Just Art: Exploring Social Justice Through Art
Explore, speak and engage issues of social justice through the creative arts. We will begin these conversations as a group and create some collaborative works of art that speak and invite conversation with the broader community. You will go home with ideas and plans to continue this work in your own communities of faith. You don't need to be an artist or even feel the least bit creative to join this class, but you will by the end of the week! Class limit: 16 Class Fee $10
Megan Argabrite is Director of Worship and the Arts at Myers Park United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC. She studied music at Queens University of Charlotte and is a graduate of Union Presbyterian Seminary. She believes that The God of the Bible is a maker, a creator, a wonderer, an enjoyer. If we are made in God’s image, then we, the body of Christ, are all of these things. Her greatest joy in ministry is seeing others find their creative selves, especially in worship, but sometimes just because it's fun. Her medium is usually song, but she dabbles in the fine arts of crayons and duct tape.
