Creative and Engaging Bible Study?
If only I had a nickle for every youth that groaned in response to my request to pull out a Bible. And who could blame them? I've sat in adult Bible studies that were oh so dry and oh so uninspired. What would the experience of Bible study be like through hearing, seeing, touching, smelling and tasting our way through the Bible? Let'e reclaim the living, breathing Word of God. Let's take back those Old Testament tales of our ancestors and poetic lines of the prophets. Let's dive into the often quirky instructions to the new Christians found in the letters and try to make sense of those 4 distinct tellings of the Gospels. In so, we can come up with creative and imaginative ways to better immerse our learners in the text.
Kelly Fitzgerald is the Associate Pastor for Family Ministry at First Presbyterian Church in Sarasota, FL. She got her start in church ministry as a cool, free-spirited youth worker but now drives a mini-van and keeps 100 SPF sunscreen in the glove box. These two extremes help to navigate the world of "what's next and new" while operating the traditional church model. She is a Florida native and is blessed to be raising her three young girls along the Gulf coast with her husband, Mike.
